Quick Peek: The Wise Earth Medicine Tarot

· Deck Reviews

Why I Love the Wise Earth Medicine Tarot

Wise Earth Medicine Tarot by Lalania Simone is an intriguing nature-based deck. Plants, animals, and insects are represented as parts of the natural realm, which leads you on your Tarot journey. The artwork has a combination of realism and Aboriginal influences. Additionally, the edges are gilded green. I’m not a fan of gilded decks because they tend to stick, but they are lovely.

Keywords at the bottom of the cards help the novice as well as the experienced reader navigate readings. I like cards with interpretation suggestions, because I may need to broaden my view of a specific card from time to time.

Some Favorite Cards

This was a difficult choice, but my first pick is the Hanged One. This has been a favorite card in a number of decks, but in this one, the card depicts a bat. He is waiting for the right time to unfold his wings and fly.

The Fool is my next pick from the Majors. Of all things to choose, the author picked a monkey. Curiosity without the tendency to overthink seems to fit quite well here.

Although not pictured, I got a smile from the choice Simone made for the Devil: a poppy. Addiction and choosing your prison seemed appropriately represented by the base ingredient for opium.

From the Minors, I chose the 9 of Earth (Pentacles), picturing a Siamese cat. Independence and self-satisfaction couldn’t be better represented. Although the element of working for the reward of luxury is not fully present, the other attributes are well represented.

Finally, the 4 of Wind (Swords) shows a cicada. Anything that slumbers for 17 years underground certainly fits the bill for withdrawing and resting. This card feels much more fitting than the RWS knight’s tomb.
